Tabletop shop
I am EXTREMELY excited to be having stands at not one but TWO artisan and hand-made fairs organised by bloggers in the coming weeks. The first is this Saturday in Northampton.
If this little flyer is anything to go by it should be rather gorgeous. It is organised by Ann and Debbie and there seems to be a very lovely line-up of stalls indeed. Click on Ann’s link to see. I know I shall be spending far too much of my takings at such a lovely event.
Then, on the 12th December comes this little number in Holt, Norfolk:
Pick and Mix. What more can we say? I’m thinking the textiley, vintage and hand-made sparkly version of a bag of flying saucers, mojos, licorice strings and fruit salads. What could be more cheery and tempting? Teena at Kitschen Pink and Mrs Bobo Bun are the organisers of this one. The fair will be featured in BBC Homes and Antiques Magazine and local Norfolk press. It even has its own blog and looky here - that’s me that is!
I have been busy making hand-made treasures for both events.
I’d be willing to bet a shilling or two that customers called shop when stepping in here.
Any of you who attend craft fairs and know the joy of having your own tiny tabletop shop will understand my excitement. I am giddy when I sell even the simplest pair of pearl earrings for a few pounds. I made them, someone wants to buy them and they are generally very smiley indeed when they are doing so.
If you live nearby do come along.
Shop!

Oh, how lovely! Fingers crossed for lots of sales - and speaking of which, we need to arrange a jewels-for-cash exchange soon because I don’t trust the post office …

Both of those sales look fantastic, and I think that your stall is going to be a wonderful asset to the markets! We have a very good artisan Christmas Market in a nearby town at the end of this month - it’s linked to the English Christmas Market which is run by ex-pat ladies and their daughters! We always have a wonderful day there, and spend far too much.

Oh how exciting! And I know exactly what you mean about the thrill you get when someone actually wants to buy something you have made yourself - brilliant!
Just wish I could come to the fairs too!

Well they sound like perfect places to be to play shops. I even take my vintage ring a ding till to play shops all the more.

I used to do antique and collectors fairs with my Mum. It was great fun. Good luck for lots of sales at both fairs. I wish I was near enough to visit. x

I’m going to give it a go next time I go shopping…SHOP! Not sure how it’ll go down in NZ as I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone else doing it, they’ll probably think I have Tourettes, I’ll let you know.
Good luck at your fairs; I used to love doing the markets, especially if you’re next to a really interesting stall. Same problem as you though…I’d spend all my takings as quick as I took them. x

Michele doesn’t say U.. she said a lot more but somehow it was erased in the pressing of a button.
I guess you will be fighting back the hordes of eager customers whilst I am typing this and I am certain you will have a ‘Sold Out’ notice on your stall by the close of business. Do try and take time to enjoy yourself inbetween the counting of all that money!
Hope it goes swimmingly well for you!!

Sounds like fun and quite a bit of work too. I am from that neck of the woods and I am sure that both events will be very busy, best of luck with it all.

Oh yes even the teensiest of sales gives a boost to ones ego! I hope that you will have many at those lovely looking fairs. Wish that I could come!
